Wear It Yellow With Children’s Ground
5/26/2026

This National Reconciliation Week, we’re going yellow. From 27 May to 3 June, Bared is proud to stand with Children’s Ground and the Wear It Yellow campaign, supporting First Nations children, families and communities across Australia.
Reconciliation isn’t a single moment in the calendar. It’s the long, ongoing work of listening, learning and showing up. For us, that means putting our laces - and our dollars - behind a First Nations-led organisation creating real generational change.
This year, we’re inviting our community to take part in a small but visible way: a pair of bright yellow charity laces designed to spark conversation, raise funds and help support a future shaped by First Nations leadership.

Wear It Yellow with Bared: The Charity Laces
We’ve designed a pair of laces in collaboration with Children’s Ground. Bright, joyful and built to lift any sneaker in your rotation. But they’re more than an accessory. 100% of proceeds from every pair sold go directly to Children’s Ground to support their work with First Nations communities across Australia.
Like all of our laces, they’re crafted from GRS-certified cotton - just in a brand new shade. Loop them through your favourite pair, gift them to a friend or swap them in for the week of Reconciliation. However you wear them, they’re designed to start conversations that matter. The idea is simple: something small on your feet can help support something much bigger.
Wear It Yellow is ultimately about visibility. Showing support publicly. Creating space for conversation. Backing organisations already doing the work. These are one way we can all participate together - whether that’s in the office, at school drop-off, over coffee or walking through your everyday routine. Pick up a pair online or in-store throughout National Reconciliation Week.

What Is Wear It Yellow?
Wear It Yellow is Children’s Ground’s annual fundraising campaign, held each year during National Reconciliation Week from 27 May to 3 June. The campaign encourages Australians to wear yellow, donate, fundraise and start conversations in support of First Nations futures.
Why yellow? It’s the colour at the centre of the Aboriginal flag, representing the sun as the giver of life. It’s also the colour of sacred ochre, used by First Nations people for generations as a symbol of deep connection to Country.
The beauty of the campaign is in its simplicity. Wear something yellow. Ask questions. Learn more. Share what you know. Support organisations creating long-term change. In the words of Children’s Ground founder, Arrernte Elder William Tilmouth, reconciliation isn’t just “a word and a day in the calendar.” It’s a long, shared practice of walking together as equals. That idea sits at the centre of Wear It Yellow - not performative action, but ongoing commitment.

Meet Children’s Ground
Children’s Ground is a First Nations-led not-for-profit creating long-term change for First Nations children, families and communities. Founded by Arrernte Elder William Tilmouth and CEO Jane Vadiveloo in 2011, their approach is unlike anything else in the sector.
Rather than implementing short-term programs or temporary interventions, Children’s Ground works alongside communities over a 25-year period - an entire generation. The model is designed and led by First Nations people, with communities shaping the priorities, outcomes and solutions themselves. Their work integrates five connected pillars: learning, health, community, culture and economic opportunity. The understanding is simple but powerful: lasting change only happens when these systems are connected, community-led and culturally grounded.
Children’s Ground currently works across Central Australia and the Top End, partnering with communities that have experienced generations of inequity and systemic exclusion. Donations directly support initiatives including early years and primary education delivered in First Languages, maternal and child health support, cultural learning on Country and employment pathways for First Nations staff leading work in their own communities.
Put simply, donations fund a future shaped by the people closest to it. What resonates most strongly with us is the organisation’s long-view approach. It’s thoughtful, community-led and centred on dignity, self-determination and cultural strength - values that deserve long-term backing, not one-off attention.

Our Partnership with Children’s Ground
We’ve been walking alongside Children’s Ground for several years through a growing partnership centred on listening first and acting second. Many of our community will already know the limited-edition sneaker collaborations we’ve launched in partnership with First Nations artists, with $50 from every pair sold donated directly to Children’s Ground. Those collaborations have helped raise both funds and awareness, while celebrating First Nations creativity and storytelling through design.
Beyond financial contributions, we’ve also used our platform to amplify the work of Children’s Ground through campaigns, journal features, team education and in-store conversations. Because meaningful partnerships aren’t just about donations - they’re about continuing to learn, engage and create space for deeper understanding within our own community too. Wear It Yellow feels like the next natural chapter in that relationship. It’s accessible, visible and community-driven - a simple way for more people to take part during National Reconciliation Week and contribute directly to long-term impact.
