Remember '24?
12/27/2024
This year for us has been our biggest and busiest year yet.
From the sun-soaked streets of LA and the buzz of Soho, to an unforgettable Kiwi debut, and a Gold Coast store arrival. We have certainly been kept on our toes with store openings but behind the scenes we have continued to invest in and test innovative materials to tread lighter on the planet and we would never forget about you our customers.
Without you all none of this would have been possible. And as we look forward to all the things we have planned for you in 2025, we just have to pause for a moment, and say a very big THANK YOU.
Now let’s roll back the clock, and reminisce on the year that was in 3, 2, 1 …
Hello, USA.
Destination: everywhere!
We started the year in LA with some captivating American creators discovering our shoes for the very first time - and becoming immediate fans.
Then we flew east to open our first ever US pop-up store in Soho, New York … And what a moment that was.
We celebrated our opening in style with champagne and smiles, alongside some of the coolest people in New York.
We even had our loafer go viral in the streets of NYC, Broadway stars of Wicked clicking their Bared heels twice and multiple models using our shoes to get from A to B at New York Fashion Week.
We made things official in NZ.
Kia Ora, New Zealand. We’re so happy to be here.
It was important to us to ensure that we connect with the tangata whenua (People of the Land) and initiate an understanding of, and a relationship in Te Ao Māori (The Māori World). We were guided by matua (elder) Tautoko Witika of the Ngāti Whātua / Tainui tribes who visited the store and performed a blessing of the space. We officially kicked it all off with a party welcoming some of our favourite New Zealanders into the store to help dance the night away (in Bared, of course).
To mark our arrival in New Zealand, we asked some of your most stylish and innovative Kiwis to put our shoes to the test, and show us how they did life in Bared.
Arriving at Pac Fair.
To top it all off, we opened our third store for the year! Our first ever flagship store in the Gold Coast was met with lines out the door, a stunning design - featuring extraordinary arches and a lust-worthy couch - and some amazing new customers we can’t wait to see again.

And then there was YOU …
You then went wild for western boots, stomping pavements across the globe in our Willet and Akepa. You really did help elevate these boots and redefine the way we think about this once-rugged style.
You obsessed over ballet flats (like us, really) and couldn’t get enough of our Surfbird - selling out this style in almost every colourway!

We’re working hard to do better for our planet.
We proudly celebrated three years of being B Corp Certified and are excited to continue upholding the B Corp goal of building Bared in a way that benefits people, communities, and the planet.
This year, we took PLIANT™ to the next level. In case you haven’t heard, PLIANT™ is the world’s first naturally cured, 100% bio-based outsole, created by the material innovators at Natural Fibre Welding. Our journey with PLIANT™ began with sneakers, and has now expanded to a significant portion of our women’s range in 2024. From beachy sandals, to dance-all-night heels, you’ll now find PLIANT™ in more styles than ever before—and we couldn’t be prouder.
We also won the Banksia Award for Responsible Supply Chain! This recognition celebrates businesses who have implemented systems and strategies that recognise, and improve human rights within their supply chain. For us, supplier transparency isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s a must. We're committed to continuous improvement, learning, and growth.
In 2024, we've proudly increased our commitment to Greenfleet to over $215K, supporting the restoration and protection of native forests in Australia and New Zealand. Greenfleet’s forests, safeguarded for up to 100 years, play a vital role in fighting climate change, improving soil and water quality, and providing a home for wildlife. Our commitment equates to an estimated 11,795 tonnes of carbon sequestered. And, as always, 2024 saw our teams continue our decarbonisation journey.
But wait, there was still more in 2024!
We walked the walk at Melbourne Fashion Festival.
We watched you wear Bared literally everywhere.
And then on your most special day (we’re not crying).
Safe to say, it’s been a year full of new discoveries and moments we’ll remember forever as a brand.
We’re so grateful for you joining us on this journey, and can’t wait to see what 2025 will bring for us all.
