Perfect Pairings
The colour, type of leather, embellishments, and other intricate details all play a role in defining the occasions a dress shoe is best suited for.
Here we break down some of our favourite footwear pairings.
Oxford > Business Meeting
When it comes to suiting up for business, there's no better choice than a classic Oxford. 'Francium’ has been expertly designed to carry you through those demanding days of back-to-back meetings with the inclusion of hidden support and cushioning in every footbed.
Brogue > Daytime Soiree
One of the most versatile dress shoes, a Brogue will happily pair with anything from a linen suit to your favourite denim. ‘Lutetium’s’ decorative perforations and stylish wingtip detail adding a touch of flair to your next daytime soiree.
Loafer > Summer Weddings
A perfect blend of style and versatility, a loafer will work back with a range of outfits. From lightweight linen suiting to your favourite chinos or even a pair of shorts, ‘Electrum 2’ is designed with all-day wear in mind.
Dubnium > Weekends
Whether your weekend agenda involves a pub lunch with friends or a day of strolling down the bustling high street, 'Dubnium' is the all-purpose boot that's up for the task. If you’re looking for a versatile footwear choice that effortlessly complements any outfit, this is the one.
Derby > Dinner Date
Our go-to for dinner dates or any special occasion, the Derby shoe’s open-lacing system adds a touch of relaxed elegance. ‘Osmium’ is versatile enough to pair with both formal and semi-formal attire, making you look effortlessly put-together whilst ensuring all-day comfort.
Patent > Black Tie
When it comes to a black-tie affair, the patent leather dress shoe reigns supreme. Its high-gloss finish exudes sophistication and elegance, making it the quintessential choice for formal events. Like all Bared dress shoes, ‘Carbon’ is designed with hidden support features for all-day (and night!) comfort.
Monk Strap > A Day in the Office
A Monk Strap is your go-to for a day in the office. Adding a touch of charm, the sleek silhouette of ‘Vanadium’ will complement both traditional suiting and less formal business dress such as blazers and sportcoats.
Caring for your Dress Shoes
Our range of men’s dress shoes are hand-crafted in Portugal, a place renowned for their rich history of crafting men’s footwear using premium materials and traditional techniques. They are meticulously constructed with various features to ensure durability, and given a little TLC they will last you for years to come.
Leather is best cared for with a good quality polish or conditioner, that will prevent the leather from drying out and cracking over time. It is important to keep your leather hydrated!
If you have opted for suede dress shoes, be sure to spray them with a good quality waterproofing spray before your first wear. This will protect them from water absorption and attracting marks. If you do need to remove any dry, dirty marks from your suede shoes, we recommend a suede brush. Apply moderate pressure and work the nap continuously in the same direction.
Modern patent leathers are smooth leather with a plastic coating. This means they are water resistant, but will still benefit from a “lack polish”. It is a patent specific protector that helps to preserve the elasticity of the patent and prevent cracking.
