B Corp Certified

We Are Australia’s First B Corp Certified Footwear Label

The Landmark Certification Raising Fashion’s Bar

Bared Footwear was the first Australian owned footwear label to become B Corp certified. In 2025, we became the first to be re-certified.

Our overall Impact Score has risen from 95 in 2021 to 126.7 in 2025, a significant improvement that reflects years of work, not a moment in time. It’s proof progress is possible and a reminder the work is far from done.

What it means to be a B Corp

B Corps are businesses verified to meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. Certification is managed by B Lab, a global non-profit organisation working to shift the role of business in society, from extracting value to creating it for people and the planet.

Becoming a B Corp means being independently assessed on how you operate across five impact areas: governance, workers, customers, community and environment. It means your impact is measured, your claims must be evidenced, and your progress is checked again and again.

In other words, B Corp isn’t a label you buy. It’s a framework you commit to.

What that score actually means

To achieve B Corp certification, a minimum verified score of 80 is required. A score of 126.7 signals deep, system-level impact across governance, workers, community, environment and customers. It speaks to structural change, not surface-level initiatives, and demonstrates what’s possible when responsibility is built into how a business operates, not bolted on as a marketing exercise.

B Corp is designed to get harder, not easier

Unlike one-off accreditations, B Corp certification is meant to evolve. Standards rise, expectations increase, and certified businesses must demonstrate measurable progress every three years to maintain their status. Re-certification isn’t a victory lap, it’s the accountability mechanism.

Our improved score reflects years of operational work across ethical manufacturing partnerships, responsible materials, transparent governance and employee wellbeing, alongside a willingness to be independently assessed again and again.

What we’re committing to as a B Corp

As a B Corp, we are required to:

  • Consider the impact of our decisions on all stakeholders
  • Be transparent across five impact areas: governance, workers, customers, community, and environment
  • Achieve a minimum verified score on the B Impact Assessment
  • Recertify every three years, meeting updated standards and continually improving
  • Provide substantiating evidence of our claims, followed by rigorous reviews and interviews by B Lab

Progress, with perspective

Founder and CEO Anna Baird says the result is both affirming and motivating.

“Moving from a score of 95 to 126.7 is something we are incredibly proud of because it represents real change behind the scenes. But we are under no illusion that this means we are finished. No footwear company is truly sustainable. What matters is momentum, accountability and action, and B Corp gives us a framework to keep improving as the standards rise.”

Since day one, we’ve challenged the idea that comfort, design and responsibility must exist in tension, and B Corp’s ethos of doing business differently aligns with that. While fashion, and especially footwear, will always have an environmental impact, re-certification is one more way we hold ourselves to account, publicly and independently.

We see B Corp not as an end goal, but as a starting point for deeper change.
