Kicks To Connect: Meet Caitlyn Davies-Plummer
6/13/2023
If you don’t know already, we work with Children’s Ground to empower First Nations communities. A partnership born way back in 2019, a lot has happened since we met. We’ve worked with local Aboriginal artists to transform their art into limited-edition shoes and donated $50 from every pair sold to the non-profit organisation, totalling $74,604 (and counting!).
A partnership that’s far from over, meet ‘Whimbrel Caityn Davies’ sneaker! In collaboration with proud Barkindji woman, Caitlyn Davies-Plummer, the low-profile style showcases the artist's work that represents her deep connection to Country.
For every sneaker sold, $50 will go towards empowering First Nations communities to create long-term change for the next generation of children.
Meet Caitlyn Davies-Plummer
Each collaboration has a story of its own and Caitlyn has followed our journey from the start. A proud mum, wife, provisional psychologist and Barkindji artist, Caitlyn paints to connect with Country.
Supporting our partnership with Brad Turner and Lakkari Pitt, Caitlyn got in touch to create a kick of her very own. An offer we couldn’t refuse, the hardest part was selecting which artwork to use. We landed on a striking, purple-hued piece from the artist’s ‘Pink Paradise’ collection.
“This piece showcases the land that reminds me of Country: the river, mountains and dry desert. Every time I look at this painting, I feel peaceful and it transports me to my favourite place.”
From there, it was time to transform Caitlyn's artwork into shoes. After a few iterations and ensuring the artwork told the same story on every pair, the ‘Whimbrel Caityn Davies’ was born!
“It is so important to me that I am able to give back to the community through my art. The thought that my art is able to generate funds that can then be given back into the community, makes me so happy” comments Caitlyn.
