Unfortunately, shoemaking creates a lot of leather scraps.
Whilst our wonderful makers do their very best to optimise the usage of leather and leave as little scraps as possible, leather scraps are inevitable. When we see leather scraps, we don’t see waste - we see a resource, and an opportunity to make something new.
That’s why in 2021, we began to transform our offcuts into dog collars.
As of 2024, we have upcycled 207.81kgs of leather offcuts.
Our dog collar program is not the final solution to solving leather waste and is only our first stride in solving this problem. Researching new ways to recycle leather offcuts and material waste is a priority for us. If you have any suggestions - reach out!
