Travel Tokyo: In Bared With Jeff Lack
7/2/2019
When menswear stylist - Jeff Lack told us he was travelling to Japan and wanted to take some shoes on the trip, of course we said yes! From intimate dates with his partner Jade Jeffries to exploring the hidden laneways, Jeff is dressed to impress.
We sat down and asked Jeff a few questions about his Japan trip and men’s style. So sit back, scroll through the images and enjoy this style masterclass.
Favourite place to visit in Japan? Where can we get the best sushi?
Nakamaguro in Tokyo is my fave! Cool people - a real mix of new and old Japan. Sushi, is very trad, if you like it fishy you’re in luck. It’s nothing like westernised sushi trains we’re accustomed to in Australia.
What sparked your interest in styling/fashion? How did this story begin?
I loved getting dressed up since I was a young lad. My folks (even though farm people) always dressed for the occasion. I started working in retail fashion when I was 17, and this is my 30th year in the industry.
If you could take one style of shoe with you on holiday, what would it be?
Fresh white sneakers.
Is the suit dead? What is its role in fashion/the workplace?
The suit will never be dead, they wear them in Startrek, right? The suit shows respect in the workplace, even if it’s worn casually.
What are some exciting things coming up in the future for Jeff Lack? Can you give us a sneak peek? I can’t show you all my cards! However, a collaboration with some of my faves is coming up soon. I’m working on my second book for men’s styling, and a public masterclass to share my tools and experience with conscious men.
One outfit to wear for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Washed denim, white t-shirt, black leather biker jacket and suede Chelsea boots. Or a silk robe… depends on the climate!
